As a therapist I offer Group Therapy, Individual Therapy, Couples and Family Therapy. I utilize a Person Centered style to encourage clients to feel comfortable and safe to participate in a healing therapeutic growth process. I encourage and facilitate clients to be open expressing various thoughts and feelings. I believe in having unconditional positive regard, congruence, and empathy for all clients. I also enjoy utilizing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Theory) to help clients work on any automatic thoughts that may be maladaptive. I tend to look into family of origin and use a psychodynamic and Adlerian approach here. When requested or desired I will also use art, sand tray, and other forms of expression to help my clients say what sometimes words alone can’t express.
My work with clients is Strength based to help clients focus and build on their internal strengths and resourcefulness. I have trauma experience and grief/loss experience.
As you can see I am an eclectic therapist in terms of theories and would draw from my education and over 13 years of work as a therapist to tailor each session to each client as needed and constantly be looking at progress, a treatment plan, client goals, etc. to make sure the client is benefiting and improving in their mood, life, and thought processes.
I offer a variety of assessments and depending on what my clients request I have the ability to assess and diagnose PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Addiction related diagnoses/treatment and many more. I also treat all these issues as well as co-occurring disorders and dual diagnoses. I am able to assist if therapy is mandated as well and am able to do reports, Mental Health Assessments, Team meetings etc.
